My life as of now...

Logan, UT, United States
Hello! My name is Alyson Shepherd. I love to plan events and hope to make it my career someday. I am not shy by any means and know what I want in life. I love to be involved in almost everything and find that diving right in is the best and most exciting way to learn something new. I truly love to gain a sense of culture and never want to become complacent when it comes to discovering new people and new ways of doing things. I have a wonderful life with everything I could need!

Nobody knows you're a dog

So many times we might make a friend on facebook, myspace, or just in a chat room and do so because we don't want to seem rude or unfriendly. However, anyone online can say whatever they want about themselves and we would have no way of really knowing what to believe. This doesn't mean that only the crazy people online are the ones that lie. I think it's safe to say most people tend to fabricate or exaggerate things online whether it is to attract the opposite sex or a future employer.

Facebook

Would you add your Mom as a friend on facebook? My answer is yes. In my opinion, if you are going to be posting something online for hundreds of people to see but it's not even appropriate enough to show your own mother, then it probably shouldn't be posted. Because so many people have facebook now, you really should reconsider what you want on your profile and how you might be perceived.

When Google is Not Your Friend!

Many people, including myself, don't realize that search engines don't provide the same level of privacy as a Web mail provider because of the fact that search engines have access to it's user's search history. Google keeps and records its user's search terms which can be accessed by the government and attorneys and there aren't really any laws to protect users.

The Coming Tug of War Over the Internet!

The nation's largest telephone companies along with Google and Yahoo are lobbying to impose network nuetrality. These companies say that giving priority to a company that pays more is just offering another tier of service. This process will require many technological advances and is becoming a more controversial issue because telephone companies such as BellSouth and AT&T don't want companies such as Yahoo and Google to use their lines for free and feel that by incorporating network nuetrality will do allow just that.
